Product Overview

DESCRIPTION

We extensively tested Barrier with multi-sport athletes for effectiveness both in the water and out. We can proudly claim that if applied prior to your Ironman, Barrier will last an entire Ironman distance swim! This capability isn’t limited to pure multi-sport athletes, but to anyone who comes into contact with water.

Unlike other sunblock sticks, our Barrier Stick is precise and robust in its application. This long lasting sunscreen, which is powered by a micronized zinc oxide technology, is optimal for your face and body. We recommend applying our water resistant sunscreen every 80 minutes of swimming, running, cycling or sweating to enjoy full protection.

Whether you are a golfer, a hiker, a lifeguard or simply an athlete in need of a better sport cream for your skincare, the Mineral Sun Barrier Stick is the perfect alternative to traditional sunscreen.

VITAMIN D FROM THE SUN

The human body is made up of many different types of cells, and each cell requires energy in order to function. One of the primary ways the body generates energy is through the metabolic process, which is the breakdown of food into energy. Vitamin D is involved in the body’s ability to utilize sunlight to create vitamin D, an important nutrient for strong bones and healthy muscles and joints. A deficiency in vitamin D can result in a number of adverse health effects, including weakened bones, muscle pain, fatigue, and even depression and anxiety. In addition, vitamin D deficiency has been linked to a number of symptoms including headache, nausea, and vomiting. Sun exposure is an important way to prevent vitamin D deficiency.

Athletes often have Vitamin D deficiency, which can contribute to decreased recovery and increased risk of injury. Training outdoors helps athletes optimize their Vitamin D levels, which can help improve their performance. Several of our performance products are specially formulated to provide pain relief and optimize the absorption of other key ingredients, such as calcium and magnesium, to help athletes achieve their best results. Our vitamin D lotions are both safe to use long-term and appropriate for use by athletes of all levels. Sunscreen alternatives are an essential part of any athlete's toolkit.

Athletes take multivitamins to ensure their diets are providing the nutrients they need to perform, and they use sunscreen alternatives to ensure they are getting adequate vitamin D. Food alone is not enough to recover and build muscle. The human body is made up of cells, and these cells are the smallest units of life. Cells require energy to function, and one of the primary ways the body generates energy is through the process of metabolism, the process by which food is broken down into energy. It is incredibly important for athletes to ensure that they are supplementing with the right nutrients, including minerals, vitamins, and other nutrients, to help them recover and build muscle.

In a study published in the American Journal of Sports Medicine, supplementation with 10,000 IU of vitamin D per day for six weeks resulted in significant improvement in recovery after intense training. Bodybuilders who took 10,000 IU of vitamin D per day saw an increase in muscle strength and size, while athletes who took 5,000 IU of vitamin D per day saw an increase in performance and training volume. Vitamin D is essential for muscle growth and repair, as well as optimizing the absorption of calcium and magnesium, which are essential nutrients for athletes. Our sunscreen alternatives are specially formulated to help athletes achieve their performance goals.

Vitamin D also has an impact on sleep. In a study published in the Journal of Sleep Research, participants who took a vitamin D supplement had better sleep quality and quantity than those who took a placebo. It is possible that vitamin D supplementation, found in our Recovery Lotion, Endurance Lotion, improves sleep quality by increasing levels of melatonin, a hormone that helps regulate sleep. Vitamin D also affects the circadian rhythm—the body’s internal clock—which may contribute to sleep. Deficiencies in Vitamin D can result in poor sleep. The recommended daily intake of Vitamin D for adults is 600 IU per day.
